Jeanne d’Arc’s story has always made me feel really sad, especially since her death was under such unfair circumstances.
It pains me to see that so many people have little to no knowledge of her or what she’d done for the French during the Hundred Years’ War and how tragic and unfair her death was.
She was always a bit of a thorn in the side of the British and the Burgundians, as any self-respecting Frenchman or woman should have been. Real crime is Charles VII’s inaction after she was captured.

why do they idolize her anyway? because she looked cute in the movies?

My friends are constantly amazed at both my disgust at even the slightest mention of blood and my eagerness to tell them everything I can about the time the pope declared war on Toulouse. But they’re more amazed at my not seeing a contradiction in personality. (It isn’t really a contradiction—more of a paradox. See, I freak out reading about the massacres, too, I’m just so fascinated I keep reading.)
Remeber Toulouse!
